These are drafts. They describe what FlowShield actually does and were written to be accurate, not to be legal advice. Consumer-subscription rules differ by country — have someone qualified review these before you take real payments, and fill in the operator details below.
FlowShield is a Windows desktop application that blocks applications you nominate during focus sessions you start. A free tier is available. A paid subscription ("Pro") unlocks additional features.
This matters more than usual, so it is stated plainly: FlowShield closes running programs. During a focus session, Soft records the blocked application and shows a brief notice inside FlowShield, but leaves the application running. Firm and Sealed close it; Hard kill mode also makes Soft close it. During a scheduled sleep window, blocked applications are closed. Any unsaved work in an application FlowShield closes may be lost. You choose what goes on that list.
FlowShield will never close operating-system processes, shells, or common development tools; these are excluded and the exclusion is not configurable. Even so, you are responsible for what you add to your block list. Do not add anything you cannot afford to have closed without warning.
Your licence is for your own use. Sharing your key or the email address attached to your subscription lets other people unlock Pro, and doing so is a breach of these terms. We may deactivate a licence we reasonably believe is being shared or resold.
Activating and validating a licence requires our licence service to be reachable. We try to keep it up and make no promise that it always will be. FlowShield's blocking works offline once activated.
FlowShield is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost work, lost data, lost profits, or any indirect loss arising from using it — including from an application being closed. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death, personal injury, or fraud.
Where consumer law gives you rights that these terms cannot remove, those rights still apply.
You may stop using FlowShield at any time and uninstall it. We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached. If we end your access without cause, we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced before they take effect, and continuing to use FlowShield after that means you accept them.
Your block list, focus sessions, journal entries, momentum score and preferences are stored locally and encrypted with Windows DPAPI under your user account. None of it is uploaded. We do not know which applications you block, when you work, or what you write in your journal.
Each receives only what it needs to do that job.
While your subscription is active, and afterwards only as long as tax and accounting rules require for the payment record.
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deleting your record cancels your subscription, since the record is what proves you have one. Write to the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
If FlowShield is not what you wanted, email us within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full. You do not need to give a reason.
Because the subscription renews automatically, a renewal can be charged for a month you did not mean to buy. If you contact us within 14 days of a renewal and have not used FlowShield in that period, we will refund it.
Cancel at any time from the billing portal linked in the app, or by emailing us. Cancelling stops future charges; Pro keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for.
If you are a consumer in the UK or EU you have a statutory right to cancel a distance purchase within 14 days. That right is in addition to this policy, not instead of it.
